Generic Prednisone is a glucocorticoid hormonal preparation, which is characterized by its antiallergic and anti-inflammatory action. It is considered to be a steroid medication.
Also known as Deltasone, this medicine is often prescribed for a course of treatment among patients who suffer different illnesses, from rheumatoid to skin diseases.
This drug is generally used to increase the corticosteroid level by itself or in combination with other pharmaceuticals. Besides, it may be prescribed for people whose corticosteroid level is regular. The latter happens in case a patient suffers some specific disease.
Doctors usually prescribe generic Deltasone in case a patient suffers any of the following diseases:
- Inflammatory disease
- Infectious disease
- Hematopoietic system and lymphatic apparatus diseases (agranulocytic angina, leucosis, thrombocytopenic purpura, lymphogranulomatosis)
- Skin diseases (psoriasis, Besnier-Brocq syndrome, disseminated neurodermatitis, and eczema)
- Allergic responses (including reactions to alimentary products and pharmaceuticals)
- Rheumatoid and interstitial diseases (sclerodermatitis, rheumatoid joint inflammation, dermatomyositis, systemic lupus erythematosus)
What dosage of generic Deltasone is usually prescribed?
When doctors observe severe symptoms of specific disease, Prednisone is prescribed for taking in tablets (0,02-0,08 g per day, divided into 3-4 doses). Then the dosage is reduced to 0,005-0,01 g per day.
These are the maximal acceptable doses of this medication:
- At a time: 0,015 g
- Per day: 0,1 g
If a patient has taken Cortisone right before, it is required to add from one fourth to one sixth of its usual dose.
The duration of treatment is determined by disease course and therapy efficiency. A diet that is rich with proteins and potassium salts is recommended.
Similarly to the treatment with Cortisone, when a patient takes generic Deltasone, it is required to use simultaneously antibiotics and other chematherapeutic agents.
